Night In Paradise (Korean – 2020)

Cast: Uhm Tae-Goo, Jeon Yeo-Been

Director: Park Hoon-Jung

After watching a few great Korean movies, I developed a taste for it. And that interest of mine keep pushing me to watch more. Movies like Oldboy, Man from Nowhere, I Saw the devil come up with a strong storyline as well as acting and direction. Movies like that makes us watch more of these Korean films.

Night in Paradise caught my eyes while surfing on Netflix last night and was eager to watch it.

The movie is about a gangster whose family was killed by rivel gang. He takes the revenge, knowing the gangs will be after him, his boss sent him away at a hide out.

Hiding out on an island he met a girl who has lost his will to live life. But you can’t hide or run from your past. And things gonna come up your way, that’s how karma works. To find out what happened to him or in the movie, watch out this drama on Netflix.

The movie is a crime drama and if you are looking for much action coming out then there is not much for you. The story is very slow in the first half and you may even find it unnecessary as it could go to a fast pase. There is nothing new to watch and story also is very much expected. With every scene going you can easily tell what’s coming next, until the end. Because the last 20min of the movie goes on a different pase.

Stowaway (2021)

Cast: Anna Kendrick, Toni Collette, Daniel Dae Kim, Shamier Anderson

Director: Joe Penna

Stowaway is another space movie with a mission to Mars. We all love space movies due to our curiosity about space and different planets. And as we are trying to find water and way to live life on Mars, we are always keen to know about any information we receive.

Stowaway is a movie about three people going for 2 years on a Mars mission, who after reaching in space finds out that they have an unwanted guest on ship. Unable to get back to earth they have to manage the situation. But it’s not a easy task as ship was only able to handle three passengers. Will they able to tackle the situation? Or will they be able to reach Mars?

To get those questions answered, you need to watch the drama movie available on Netflix.

If you like a typical emotional drama then only you can watch it out because for space and sci-fi lovers, there is nothing in the movie. Also it failed to create the excitement and movie is easy to guess about what gonna happen. It’s slow and there is nothing new to watch. But if you still wanna watch it, do it at your own risk.

Mortal Kombat (2021)

Cast: Joe Taslim, Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Mehcad Brooks, Josh Lawson

Director: Simon McQuoid

Mortal Kombet movie is a cinematic reboot of a fighting video game and the past movies as well. It’s one of the most popular fighting games, which most of us have played. Also we all must have seen the old movies of this fantasy series.

From a video game to the movies, journey of this franchise is quite awesome, creating fans all around the world.

The story as we all know is about the war between different worlds and if earth loose Shang Tsung will rule as a God killing and torturing everyone.

To stop that earth greatest heroes need to gather around and win under the guidance of Lord Raiden.

The reboot story shows us a different storyline with a few similarities then the previous movies with some amazing on screen effects, action and characters. It even has a glimpse of recently released Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge (Animation).

But if you are a big Mortal Kombat fan, then you might find the movie disappointing, as the previous movies made our expectations so high. And the last animated move (Scorpion’s Revenge) was actually amazing.

But a few things in the movie will still surprise you and also the performance of Sub-Zero is quite astounding. This franchise will be having two more parts coming up may cover all the loose ends.

If you will be watching this for the first time you might love the movie. With mixed reviews and reactions I would suggest not to have high hopes and just sit back, relax and enjoy a good action packed fantasy movie.

Saina ( Hindi – 2021 )

Cast: Parineeti Chopra, Meghna Malik, Subhrajyoti Barat, Manav Kaul

Director: Amole Gupte

Saina Nehwal, the proud of India and one of the best badminton player in the word. The movie is about her life and achievements. And we are are equally excited to know more about our star players, always keen to know their secrets and formulas of winning.

The movie is a glimpse of Saina Nehwal’s life till she won the gold in common wealth games.

The movie shows her family support, her dedication and determination towards the game as well as the support given by her coaches.

There is lot to see in the movie but sadly it won’t interest you. Now you will justify it by saying it’s a biography but bad direction and bad acting will make you loose all your excitement.

Meghna Malik is the best thing about the movie doing the role of Saina’s mother and will always cheer you up with the screen time.

After “The girl on the train”, the bad acting continued for Parineeti. And you may also find the movie quite boring as well.

If you are a fan and wanna know about Saina then only watch the movie, that too on your own risk.

Love and Monsters (2020)

Cast : Dylan O’Brien, Michael Rooker, Ariana Greenblatt

Director : Michael Matthews

The 2020 adventure movie can be a weekend pick, showing you a different kind of after apocalypse era. This apocalypse turned the insects into giants who are hunting people and eating them out.

The story starts when a boy found out that his ex girlfriend is alive in another colony through a radio, seven years after apocalypse when survivors are living in bunkers or safe houses.

Being alone and desperate he decided to leave the bunker to meet his lost love. Here is where the adventure begins. What all monsters he gonna fight? Will he meet his love of life?

To find out just simply watch this movie available on Netflix.

The movie is a decent watch but guess the makers were some monsters short as till you finish you might wanted to see a bit more of them. The graphics were good but the story could have been more adventurous.

Who knows, might we see them in upcoming part or is it the end. But kids will love this movie.

Wild Dog (Telugu – 2021)

Cast : Akkineni Nagarjuna, Ali Reja, Atul Kulkarni, Saiyami Kher

Director : Ahishor Solomon

Between 2006 to 2013, there were several bomb blasts in India, including Lumbini Park, Gokul Chat, Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad and German Bakery, Pune.

The terrorist organization Indian Mujahideen claimed to be responsible for over 300 deaths in those blasts. Yashin Bhatkal was the master mind behind all these, who was hiding in Nepal.

A team of five NIA officers conducted a covert operation to arrest and bring back Yasin Bhatkal to India. Yasin has been sentenced to death by NIA court in Hyderabad.

The movie is dedicated to NIA and a good another covert operations movie. Based on some true events. Although you won’t be finding anything new or exceptional in the movie but as a Nagarjuna fan we all should go for the Mass movie.

Movie is a bit lengthy and could have been cut short a bit. Rest everything is fine. You can watch it on Netflix and I am sure it will be a decent watch this lockdown. Just don’t keep your hopes too high.

Concrete Cowboy ( English – 2021 )

Cast: Idris Elba, Caleb Mclaughlin

Director: Ricky Staub

The movie is about the journey of a rebellious boy who is forcefully sent to his father to live with, who is a stranger to him. No where to go, he has to stay there but it’s not an easy task as he has to work at the stable where his father work with his community.

Movie is the journey of that boy and those people around. Making him a responsible young cowboy. To know more about the journey you have to watch this amazing drama based on some real life street black cowboys.

The storyline of the movie is great with great actors on screen and directed beautifully. Just the movie is a bit slow and could have been short to twenty minutes around.

But still it’s a good watch on Netflix and you can always go for it if you love the segment.

My Clint’s Wife ( Hindi – 2020)

Cast: Anjali Patil, Sharib Hashmi, Abhimanyu Singh

Director: Prabhakar Meena Bhaskar Pant

Movie released last year in July is a mystery thriller where the story starts with a husband wife dispute, each telling different story to the police and lawyer. According to the husband, his wife is accusing him in a false case whereas the wife’s statement is totally opposite.

But the truth is far to be found. The lawyer find himself as the only link between the stories and the truth.

But the truth comes out to be the really mystery in the movie with some unexpected turns. The suspense of the movie turns the storyline upside down, revealing the truth is beyond imagination.

But even after such great actors, I find the story had a bad direction as well as robotic acting, with poor written dialogues.

Movie is very slow in pace and even with a wonderful suspense many of you might not like it.

Movie is available on Amazon Prime, but if you wanna watch it, do it at your own risk.

Ajeeb Daastaans (Hindi – 2021)

Ajeeb Daastaans is a movie about four different stories not related to each other by any means.

Each story explains different emotions with unexpected twists and turns but crafted beautifully. Though might not everyone share the same taste. But one thing is for sure that atleast one story out of four you gonna like for sure.

Story 1:

Cast: Fatima Sana Shaikh, Jaideep Ahlawat,

Director: Shashank Khaitan

The first part of the movie starts with a bang, the first scene itself caught my eyes which can get anyone’s attention. This is a revenge story with some unexpected twists which I was not able to guess. Story revolve around three people who suppress their feelings and compromise with their lives. This is my personal favorite of all.

Story 2:

Cast: Nusrat Barucha, Abhishek Banergee

Director: Raj Mehta

The second story starts with two different prospectives of society and how we look at it. This one is a thriller kind and if you get what happened in the end, your mind gonna blow up for sure.

Story 3:

Cast: Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditi Rao Hydari

Director: Neeraj Ghaywan

The third part I feel is about the emotional phase of women about dealing with the society and everyone around them. The concept shares the real face of our society and how one deal with it burying their own happiness and emotions, just to live in it. Though I personally find it a bit slow but still its worth watching.

Story 4:

Cast: Shefali Shah, Manav Kaul

Director: Kayoze Irani

The final part comes out to be a romantic one and will give you a chance to feel the love instead you for a moment. The story is like a hope of love which you can feel at any stage of your life and ask you to choose the right direction. But again dealing with your own emotions in those situations and circumstances is not always easy.

The movie is decent to watch and few parts are much entertaining. If you have nothing to do this lockdown, you can go for it.

Nobody (2021)

Cast: Hutch Mansell

Director: Ilya Naishuller

A full on action pack movie, not much of a thriller.

Was waiting for this movie to watch and it turned out worth waiting. Though there is nothing much new in the movie, as we can find a lot of movies with similar concept like this. For example; John Wick, Equalizer and many more, where you find a retired action hero getting back in action.

The story starts with Hutch Mansell doing regular work as a comman man, fed up with his daily routine. But things turn around with a robbery at his home, which made him do a few things that needed to be done.

Movie has a slow start but that’s necessary for the story build up. A few scens in movie are unexpected and kind of cherry on the cake. Overall movie is action packed and won’t let you bore. Action scenes are good with a decent storyline, although nothing new in the movie I have found. But still you can go for it and watch for the love of action.

As per the story we can also expect the other parts coming soon, making it an amazing action series like John Wick.
