Jagame Thandhiram (Tamil – 2021)

Jagame Thandhiram is a 2021 tamil language action drama film released today on Netflix. The film is also available in other languages like Hindi, English, Malayalam etc.

Dhanush wanted a theatre release for this film but due to the circumstances the film got released on OTT platform Netflix. This was also one of the most awaited movies and the trailer itself was a big hit with millions of views.

In the film Dhanush played the role of a local gangster Suruli, who gets an invitation from an international gangster & businessman also working for the politicians. After he reaches London he got to know that Peter who invited him has a rivalry with a tamil gangster name Sivadoss.

Sivadoss deals in gold and guns but also work as a social worker for the immigrants and is very well known and respected in the community. Without knowing any of the background story Suruli starts working for Peter to remove Sivadoss and all of his gang. Suruli is a money minded person who work for money of course and also want to setup his own restaurant. After making his deal with Peter he start working for him.

But that’s just the start of the story. And as all of us were really excited to watch this film, you need to explore it yourself by watching it.

Just to give you a hint, the movie story is also about the illegal immigrants who are just trying to find their home. For rest of it do watch this. As even earlier I talked about Dhanush is the safest actor to watch these days with amazing performance on screen, we can always watch his movies.

If we talk about the film, we all had some great expectations but don’t go with them. The movie is a good watch but not that great. The acting and screenplay was mesmerizing but I guess the story was a bit sloppy.

Even I felt that at some seens the background music was also missing which was much needed. The topic was different and good but I guess they failed to express it with more interest and entertainment. Even the film gets a bit slow in the middle but rest of the part keeps you engaging and the ending action seens gives you a gangster feel with a mass song.

Naan Dhaan da Mass song will make you sing the hardcore gangster lyrics and will be the next ringtone for lots of us.

In total the movie is a good watch if you keep your expectations low and Dhanush acting skills are on the top again. Watch this one for beautiful picturization, great acting, the mass song and Dhanush of course.

Shaadisthan (Bollywood – 2021)

Shaadisthan is a 2021 hindi language drama film recently released on Disney Hotstar.

The film revolve around a young girl facing emotional distress and depression due to her upcoming wedding forced by her parents. But Kirti is in the lead role who has all the way opposite life style then that girl and is more independent and also responsible. The third lady of the movie Nivedita is the mother of that young girl who understand everything but is bound by the society.

About the story, the family has to travel from Mumbai to Rajasthan for due to a wedding. The young girl is forcefully getting married to her cousin’s brother in law. After they miss their flight, their travel is arranged with the wedding band who is also travelling from Mumbai itself. Kirti is the band lead singer who has a different view of life which is more independent. Now the journey starts and the two different cultures of society encounter each other.

What happened next is to watch in the film as it shows a quite sensitive topic. As we all know in India it is quite common for young girls getting married, even before the age of 18 and forced by the parents and relatives. And a film about such a sensitive issues raises a lot of questions and red flags. We talk a lot about women empowerment and freedom but ground reality is still far away. And we all need to take a stand for it.

But even after a nice topic the film was extremely boring and slow. Acting was ok but the direction was nit that good and story was lost somewhere.

In short I would say the movie is a crap. After watching this I felt that I tortured myself nd why I even watched it. The movie in short is dull and boring.

Below Zero / Bajocero (Spanish – 2021)

Below Zero or in spenish Bajocero is a 2021 released drama thriller film available on Netflix. They have categorised it as a action thriller but after watching it, I found out it more of as a drama thriller as the actions are quite less in the film.

The story of the film runs around a cop Martin, who got his first prisoners transfer duty. After checking the inmates and loading up, the bus is ready for transfer. But someone on the road know their moves and is ready for them to come close.

Soon that unknown threat is able to stop the bus and get rid of the fellow policeman. Martin who has already stoped the bus after loosing visuals of the fellow cops, gets of it and start searching the unknown attacker.

But after the situation gets in favor of that unknown threat, Martin find himself with the prisoners who got successful to cut loose while all that attack on cops was happening. But it is not that easy to break open the bus and only way to get out was the key with Martin.

The unknown threat then told everyone through the cop radio that he will let everyone walk away only if they are ready to handover only one prisoner to him named Nano.

Fearing death Nano swallows the key of way out making it a no way out of the bus. But who is this unknown threat and why he wants Neno only.? Will Martin the cop, be able to save them.? That’s the suspense and to know more you have to watch the movie.

The storyline of the film and the motive of that unknown threat is forceful. And if we talk about emotional content, then we all know sometimes we find things not according to law but are morally correct. The movie make us all think about the moral values.

The film start good with decent acting and strong storyline. But the film got a bit slow in the mid and you might also feel bore with those extra and unnecessary parts. But all together it is a decent watch.

It’s my second review for a Spanish film and I guess the industry is doing great. I will watch some more Spanish movies now on.

Wish Dragon (Animation – 2020)

Wish dragon is an animation comedy adventure movie released in 2020 and recently got it’s OTT platform on Netflix.

The story of the film is about a teenage boy who wish to get his childhood best friend back in his life even after several years of being apart. While doing part time job as a delivery guy, he meets a person introducing himself as GOD, handing over a teapot to him. Soon the boy find out about a magical wish granting dragon who will grant three wishes to the sole owner of the teapot.

The dragon ask the boy to complete his all three wishes so he could be free and go to heaven. But the boy’s wishes are far beyond money or power. He just want his friend back who is now a super rich girl. But there are some evil forces who want that teapot as well.

Wait… What… I know, I know; the story sounds familiar.

In easy words if I have to describe it then I would say it’s the Chinese animated version of the Alladin, where the boy is like Alladin who just want a girl and the wish dragon is the genie granting three wishes to the lamp owner, which here in this case is a teapot.

For a change this genie has a background story of his own and the end part is a bit different.

Of course that had to be different just to make a point. But still you will find a lot similarities between wish dragon story and Alladin, specially the characteristics and nature. Like the boy is poor still not wish for money and the rich girl who wanna live life away from the fame and riches.

Moreover I found the film is kind of Alladin remake with a bit if twists and editions. And nothing new was there in that.

The movie and story is great if you are watching it as a kid. But as an adult it will remind you of Alladin at every moment until you compare it and find that it’s more of same just the boy is more stupid the alladin.

Skater Girl (Bollywood – 2021)

Skater Girl is a 2021 drama film recently released on Netflix. Initial release of the film was 2020 but it just got released today on OTT platform.

The movie is based on two girls of which one is a Indo-British girl Jessica and another is a young girl of lower cast from a small village name Prerna (Meaning- Inspiration). So Jessica visit this small village of Rajasthan after she got to know that her late father was from the same village. Taking a tour and talking to children while roaming around is when she meets Prerna. After a few days Jessica’s friend Eric visit to see her with a skate board. As the children around take a try of the board, Jessica finds it heartwarming and arranges skateboard for everyone.

A few days after all are playing with the skateboard, Prerna tells Jessica that skating makes her feel free and that’s the best thing happened to her life. That inspire Jessica to bring a change but that’s not easy. How she gonna do it and how Prerna take her steps out to achieve something is all in the film.

The film showcase some dark truth of our society which till date are dragging us back. Like cast system which is injected from the childhood itself and also the mentality of few people who wanna control women.

The film also showed how politicians deny to help bringing up the change but want to be the face after the change happened. We all know that a lot need to improve and change also but we don’t wanna do it as it’s one of the most difficult tasks.

Even with a good concept and inspiring storyline the film lacked to bind the interest. The starting was very slow indeed. They could have created more excitement but somehow I personally feel the film was a bit dull.

I haven’t watched the trailer before watching the film and just by hearing the name I was filled with excitement and thought the movie will be something like Bend It Like Beckham (2002). I am not talking about the romance but about the love for the sport.

In short if I say the movie is ok to watch. Inspiring but less entertaining.

Recalled (Korean – 2021)

Recalled is a south korean mystery drama movie released in April 2021.

The film is about a woman who had an accident after which she looses his past memories. With a loving and caring husband she tries to live her life but soon things change for her as she started getting some visions. Thinking it as a future glimpse she start to dig things up revealing some chapters of her past life.

Recently gone through a head injury and mental trauma it’s hard to believe things she saw or experienced. But soon she gets hints and finds out that her husband is not the man living with her and there is a lot going on around.

Who is that guy pretending to be her husband? What’s her past? What about the visions she suddenly gets? All these questions will increase your curiosity to watch this mystery drama film.

The film starting is a bit slow but I guess that was necessary for the story built up. But once the things got suspicious, it gets interesting.

The suspense of the film is really amazing and the storyline is also great. The only thing I missed in the movie was the background music which I personally think could have been improved. Rest everything is good.

Krack (Telugu – 2021)

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja is back in Krack which is a Telugu language action thriller film released in February 2021. A south tadka movie full of action and some punch dialogues delivery of Ravi Teja surely make an impact.

The story is about a hot headed police offers who hates the word ‘Background’. Three of the notorious criminals get in his path and because of some silly reasons they end up behind the bars.

The film mainly focus on the story of one criminal out of those three. He catches the 1st one during a passport verification, later got to know that the criminal he caught is the most wanted terrorist of India.

The second one receives a call from SP warning him to surrender as Ravi Teja is getting posted in that area. When he is not feared from the newly posted officer, the SP ask him to visit a jail and meet the third criminal to know all about the police officer.

After reaching the jail the second one meets the third and main villain of the film who describe his story and tells him how he ended up in jail.

Now the main story of the film is about this third criminal. From being a don to end up in jail. How is locked horns with Ravi Teja and what all happened to him is part of the story.

We all know it’s a mass movie with a lot of action drama and punch dialogues. And being a fan, this movie is not to miss. All the negative characters did an amazing work in the film and surly make an impact. The action seens were also great and story narration was also good.

In short the movie is full of entertainment and action packed. Krack is not the film you miss out. So take out some time and watch it out.

Xtreme (Spanish – 2021)

Xtreme or Xtremo is a 2021 Spanish crime action film recently released which you can watch on Netflix.

Now coming to the story, Maximo in the lead role is a gang leader’s adopted son working with the actual son of the leader who wanna be in the top at any cost. And to become on top he kills his own father betraying Maximo and his step sister, he even try to kill Maximo but somehow Maximo escapes although his only son got killed in the rivalry.

Two years after while preparing for his revenge he encounters a young guy who is getting used up by mafia for their own use. Maximo saves him but his family has to bare the cost for that with their life. Now Maximo has to save the kid and also take his revenge.

The story is quite simple and there is nothing new which we all haven’t seen before. But If we talk about Xtreme, the film is full of action and with a fast pase.

The movie starts with full action scens and also ends with the same. Some parts of the film could have been improved though but still it was quite entertaining.

The acting and direction is ok and they have kept the story straight to the line and simple. Where Maximo is a one man army killing anyone comes in his way. And that what all we need from an action film.

If you love action movies then this one is for you. The film is a good watch and full of action. And I am sure you won’t get bore in it.

Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021)

It’s quite common now days when you do something right eye opening thing which can change the world and it will lead you to run for your life where survival is a rare chance. We all see and even feel the government doing the same with us. Say anything against them and they will make you life miserable or even you might loose it. But most of the movies have happy endings where the truth wins but the ground reality is not hidden.

Those who wish me dead is a 2021 drama thriller with kinda same concept we were just talking about. And with Angelina Jolie most of us added it in our watch list.

So the movie starts when a guy find out that his right thing now can cost him his son’s and his life and he has to run and vanish somewhere. With the other associates killed, he is the last loose end and a few assassins are after him. He plan to go to his friend in need who is also a sharif but unfortunately got killed near his destination. Luckily the kid escapes and while running he encounters Angelina who start helping out the kid.

What happened next is all about the movie and to know that you need to watch it out. The film is said to be a drama thriller but it’s more of a drama movie with no thrilling effects.

Movie screening is of a forest mostly on fire. But with Angelina Jolie we all did expect a lot action as well. But the film is very slow with the storyline and you might feel bore at some point as well.

There is nothing new or different about the film and also the story failed to capture the audience. The movie has nothing exciting nor any thrill. Although it’s a typical drama movie and the ones who love that category can watch it.

Overall the movie is just of and skipping this one won’t make such difference. So it’s up to you, if you wanna watch go for it and if not, surely you haven’t miss anything.

Cruella (2021)

Cruella from Disney is a 2021 crime comedy film and as we all know the character, I don’t think she need any introduction.

I have watched the Dalmatians movie and also the cartoon series and we all loved those dogs and puppies. Cruella was hated by most of us as she was after those dogs and puppies. The film took me back to the childhood memories of Dalmatians.

But with this movie your hatred gonna turn into love and sympathy for the character.

The story is all about how Cruella became Cruella as she was not born like that. I mean the hair color was same but she was not that mean. She used to be Estella, born genius and a wanna be fashion designer. After loosing her mother she is alone at the streets of London where she meet two thieves. All five of them start living together doing small thefts. Oh, did I mention five. Two doges were the part of group too.

Dreams for Estella came in line after she got an opportunity to work with the biggest fashion icon Baroness. The rest of the story is about and how Estella becomes Cruella. And to know that you have to watch the movie.

Emma Stone looked fabulous in the film and also her acting as Cruella was impressive. Paul Walter was really funny and so was his dog making the screen time really amazing.

The film gets a little sloppy before ending but rest everything is fine. And with such a strong character from Disney the movie is a must watch. And I am sure before the movie ends you will love Cruella.

From a negative portrait to becoming a positive icon Cruella is one of the best film in recent times where we got disappointed with lot other movies.
